Welcome to Music Festival 2013. This is the 36th anniversary of the St. Albert Music Festival and the 19th year that it has been sponsored and organized by the Rotary Club of St. Albert Ours is a Music Festival with a difference. We have dedicated our efforts to foster a love of performance in our youth. Our adjudicators all have national if not international professional reputations. Their evaluations are presented in a supportive and positive manner with an education focus. Our goal is to build self-esteem and confidence in performance. |
Community involvement is a second key component of our Festival. With more than 200 volunteers, we have more St. Albertans contributing their time than any of the other Music Festivals in Alberta. Our community churches have also been marvelous hosts to our musicians throughout our history. We take considerable pride in offering an atmosphere which fosters this amount of community involvement.
Our participation rates have gone up over the past 5 years. In our 2012 Music Festival we held 55 sessions, which included 860 entries for a total of 2,000 participants. We look forward to a continuing increase in 2013.
At the same time, costs are rising. Registration fees cover 30% of the operating expenses. The Rotary Club of St. Albert and its members contribute another 30%. The remainder of our income comes from individuals and businesses with intermittent, although much appreciated, financial support from our City Council and Provincial Government.
