A Message From the Chair

On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to say how proud we are to be involved with the 2010 St. Albert Rotary Music Festival and we are looking forward to a great season.

The St. Albert Rotary Music Festival continues to be one of the premier Music Festivals in Alberta. The Rotary Club of St. Albert began sponsoring the festival in 1994 and takes pride in having it as our primary Community Services Project.

The main purpose of the Music Festival is to give an opportunity to young musicians, dancers, singers and speakers to perform in front of an audience and to be heard by professional adjudicators who can give the students positive instruction. This encourages and enhances their learning experience. Many professional musicians started by performing in a local festival such as ours.

I encourage everyone to come to any session to see and hear our young people showcase their talent. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

We also encourage you to attend the Grand Concert on April 20, 2011 at 7 PM at the Arden Theatre. I promise you that you will be amazed and delighted with the caliber of talent we have in St. Albert and area. This is an event you do not want to miss!

Brian Sherrington, Chair
St. Albert Rotary Music Festival Committee

Welcome from the Executive Secretary

The St. Albert Rotary Music Festival is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for performers around the region to pursue artistic growth and excellence. From bands, choirs and choral speech to piano, strings, guitar, voice, musical theatre, composition and dance, this is the chance to shine. Enjoy the many rewards by getting involved and participating. From the hard work of students and teachers in preparation, to the showcase of talent among peers, it’s an event not to be missed.

We are looking forward to a great Festival in 2010. Our adjudicator roster promises to offer great learning experiences for everyone. Thanks to the generous support of community donations, our number of scholarships is growing. The Lyle Moore Scholarship ($1000) is available to all participants in 2010 and not restricted by residence.

Thank you to our host churches: The Salvation Army, Red Willow Community Church, Braeside Presbyterian Church and St. Albert Evangelical Lutheran Church for opening their doors once again to support the artistic endeavors of the youth in our community. A special “welcome back” to the St. Albert United Church where our Choral events will be held.

Our Festival would not be possible without the ongoing commitment of the St. Albert Rotary Club leading the way, both financially and with an army of volunteers. They are truly an inspiration!

Together, let’s make it the BEST Festival ever!

Maryan Threndyle
Executive Secretary
