St. Albert Rotary Music Festival

New for 2010

BAND (see local syllabus)        

Bands may perform a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 selections in Classes 1000-1156 and
Classes 1300-1306. 
Selections listed in the AMFA Syllabus are “suggested selections” and not mandatory.
Time limits have been extended to allow more clinic time with the adjudicator. 
Times listed are "on stage" times which include performance and adjudication/clinic. 
In addition a 30-minute warm-up in the warm-up room is provided.

Classes 1000-1100 (Elementary-Grade I) 45 min.
Classes 1110-1126, 1160-1166 (Grade II-III) 50 min.
Classes 1130-1156, 1170-1186 (Grade IV-VI) 60 min.
Classes 1300-1306 (Stage Band) 60 min.

CREATIVE MUSIC
The name has been changed to Music Composition

CHORAL
A choir may be recommended to only ONE class at the Provincial Festival
Choirs may not sing more than one part of a multi-movement work or one part of a song cycle.
A brief solo passage is allowed in only one of the selections.
The sum total of the solo passages may not exceed 10% of the total length of the selection.

PIANO
Entrants in PLAN II may be recommended to the following classes at the Provincial Level:

Class 704 Grades 5 and 6
Class 705 Grades 7 and 8
Class 706 Grades 9 and 10

Classes 707 and 708 have been designated for Concerto performance at the Provincial Level. 
Concerti may not be included in the selections for Classes 701-703 or 704-706.

MUSICAL THEATRE
AMFA has classified Up-Tempo and Ballad selections. See www.albertamusicfestival.org.
